Education is one of the most important functions of our state government, and the most important assets to the educational system are the teachers themselves. I will advocate the removal of bureaucratic red tape suffocating our teachers and allow them to best tailor their teaching using their professional skills and experiences.
Now that we know that the Federal Government does not care about our privacy, it is the duty of our State Legislature to restrict the NSAs ability to illegally spy on the citizens of Massachusetts, and include in legislation stiff penalties for Federal Agents who break laws restricting the legality of mass surveillance programs.
Massachusetts is currently tied for last place with Alabama, Kentucky, and Nebraska in government transparency, receiving a grade of F in a recent non-partisan study examining how state legislatures make data available online. This is unacceptable. Citizens deserve to know how their Representatives are voting on each and every bill that makes its way through the House and Senate, and know in a timely manner.
It is important for every elected representative to be held accountable for their actions. "As your State Representative I will make public every one of my votes on my website and on social media, explaning the vote that was taken, how I voted, and why I voted in the way that I did."
